My son is so desparate to go back to school - he has asked constantly when he is going back, about his new classroom etc etc etc.

I am not looking forward to it as he has the same horrid teacher as last year.  I am sure she is the antagonist for the situations he gets in to as these seem not to happen or be less frequent if she is not around.

I am feeling very childish at the moment.  I want written info from the school, they prefer verbal.  So all I want to do is drop my son and run or preferably not even go there so that they cannnot talk to me.

How childish of me I know but I am getting more and more stressed about it.

Hi there

Poor you!  Why not just see how he gets on when he goes back, then if there's a problem start with the teacher or SENCO (not sure if your son is in Mainstream or Special School).  If not satisfied then go to the Head Teacher then the Governors.  If still not satisfied, how about looking at a new school?  You are not being childish, but I think you might feel pushed into a corner with no way out!  But there is always something you can do, so don't give up.

One thing that did strike me however, is that your son is desparate to go back to school, so this would indicate that he is happy there otherwise he would not want to go back?    Of course, I don't know all the facts, and there might be a lot more to this.  Don't get stressed though there's always help.  In my area (Poole Dorset) there is something called POPPS that helps parents with Disabled children with Educational issues.  Is there anything like this in your area as it might be worth looking into.

Let us know how you both get on in the next few days.

Best Wishes
Julie

Thanks Julie

The Head is already aware and maybe I am being childish because I have not got my own way Smiley

We have to leave it for 2 weeks but I am just not relishing it as the Head is away that the teacher may be the antagonist.

Anyway - you are right - he loves school but then he is a child who loves everyone anyway Smiley

Childishly I hid from the class teacher but I did briefly speak to the 1-2-1.  Thomas is over the moon to be back at school so I hope all has gone well today.

Thanks for your suport.  Although my husband is extremely supportive he is not the one who is doingthe dropping off and picking up and facing the brunt of the teacher.

Good luck, I hope today went Ok. Ours go back tomorrow so fingers crossed - Michael always seems to love being at school but hates the idea of going so no doubt we'll have a few "strops" this evening! It'll be a bit of a change for Paula now as both the kids will be at school every day (though Elise is only mornings this term).

I don't know what sort of things are going on with this teacher, but it sounds like it might be a good idea to keep a diary of any incidents or issues. If it comes down to a dispute in the future it will be hard to remember specific examples otherwise.

Good luck

John

Well we have had two weeks (all but a day) of Smiley with the exception of Thursday morning in line where apparently he was not happy - I was not there as I was working.

So all in all not bad.
