Hi.

My name is Simon.  I am the father of a ten year old little boy who suffers with profound quadriplegic cerebral palsy.  At ten years old he is still in many ways at the level of a newborn baby.  This is despite all of the treatments we have tried.  We have been all over the world to different centres, trying various programmes, all to little effect.  We have been to IAHP in Philadelphia and were on the Institutes programme for two years.  We travelled to continental Europe to see Carl Delacato and we have been on the Brainwave programme.

Having tried these approaches, all of which had minimal effect, we recently came accross another approach which we began to implement just a few weeks ago.  It is called 'neuro - cognitive therapy' and is provided by a small organisation called 'Snowdrop.' (It is actually one very highly qualified guy who is himself the father of a brain injured child, who has both studied and worked in the field of brain injured children for twenty years.)

An ideal 'developmental environment' is prescribed, as it has been for my own son, Gary,  which takes account of and in Gary's case, attempts to 're-tune' his distorted sensory system.    He has also been prescribed a series of developmental learning tasks, designed to be just above his current developmental level.  The learning tasks are broken down into very simple sub-tasks, which are carried out with Gary with our assistance.   In this way Gary's learning is structured to hopefully help 'pull' his development along.

It is early days, but on the sensory side, things have already started to move in the right direction.  Gary was 'cortically blind' prior to us embarking on this treatment, but the other day he visually followed his sister as she walked close by.  We were naturally thrilled!  Snowdrop's URL is http://www.snowdrop.cc

I just thought I would introduce myself and tell you a bit about us.  It's great to read other parents experiences in the various forums and I hope to be chatting to you all frequently.

Regards.

Simon

Hi Simon

Great to hear about your experiences and also a positive recommendation is always welcome. We are still on the Brainwave programme and seeing some small improvements in both our children, and we've only been doing the therapy for a couple of months. Its obvious that different therapy programmes are needed depending on the specific needs of the child.

Really pleased to hear that Gary is making progress. Keep us informed how things go!

Kind Regards

John
