Had a meeting with the ED psych yesterday who has just done a cognitive assessment on Elise. Turns out that despite the adoption consultants prognosis of her having moderate to severe learning difficulties, she is now in fact of average ability for her age! So proud of her as she has come on so much in the three years since we have had her. Just goes to show that the 'experts' are not always right!

Anyway, it has now been decided that she needs to go to a local mainstream school with support as her attention, concentration etc is still really poor. We are visiting the local primary school on Monday so will let you know how we get on. Really lucky as I asked how many places there were in Year 1 for September and there is one! Sounds really silly and I know that I will change my mind when it is raining but sort of looking forward to doing the school run - never thought that would ever happen!

What great news, I'm so happy for you.  Obviously being with you and John has done wonders for her and it sounds as if she has made astounding progress!  I am sure that everything will work out really well for her at mainsteam school.  Hope you can get her into the one that you want.

Re:  the school run - yep you can guarantee that the heavens will open just at pick up time, but that doesn't matter.  It will open up a new network of friends, who will hopefully live locally to you too.

I am going to stick my neck out hear and say that the experts probably were not wrong with what they saw but that you have done the bestest job in the world and now Elise has a reason to live, work, play and be happy.  That is what I call a piece of teamwork.
