hi im karen

my little boy charlie is the youngest of our five children he was born in liverpool womens hospital at 33 weeks gestation he was in hospital for 3 weeks after a stressfull pregnancy with lots of bleeding, i was scanned for placenta previa at 32 weeks but they said the placenta had moved up.

as charlie was getting a bit older we noticed that he wasnt meeting any of his milestones and we were worried that there was something wrong the proffesionals treated him as globally delayed but arranged an mri scan for him in september last year we got the results in october which showed he has ataxic cp, underdeveloped cerebellum and dandy walker variant even though it wasnt a complete shock we were still obviously upset and worried for his future

any way now we have accepted charlied diagnosis and will just get him all the help he needs he is a little treasure and a happy little man who is adored by the whole family

nice to meet you all

Hi Karen

Welcome from me and my bunch.

I to had placenta previa but it was known about so I had an elective Caesar planned.  However, due to bleeding the planned became unplanned as I had Thomas a bit earlier than planned - if you get my drift Smiley

I am pleased that you have a diagnosis for your liitle man.  While it is heartbreaking, a diagnosis does help a bit in getting what he requires with regards to schooling etc - nothing concrete but it helps.

Sounds like you have all under control.

Enjoy the forum

Hi Karen,

Welcome to the forum from us too.  Your wee boy sounds like a delight.  Glad he's so happy - you obviously dote on him.  It is sad to confirm a diagnosis, but thinking positively about it - at least you will have an idea of what the future holds for you and your family and can plan for this.  You sound very much ahead of the game regards acceptance of his condition.  Look forward to speaking to you on the forum. Cheesy
