We didn't know what to get Elise for her birthday this year, and ended up buying her a projector that projects a gently swirling mass of stars across her bedroom ceiling. It's really effective and would be a great way to create an "instant sensory room" for anyone that's interested.
If you are interested, its called a Laser Cosmos available from http://www.find-me-a-gift.co.uk/laser-cosmos-laser-stars-projector.html.

Wow! That looks awsome, I hope she enjoys it. I have a mathmos projector in my room http://www.mathmos.com/erol.html

Great idea!  We always struggle to think of appropriate gifts for N.  We've got a cupboard full of toys that she doesn't play with, but this looks really good.

We've just found out that if we position it outside Elise's room we can get it to shine stars into both her room and Michael's. Hopefully that means 2 mesmerised children at bedtime not just 1!

It must have a really wide projection area. Would clever use of mirrors make it shine in your room too?

There's an easy solution to that - wait till the kids are asleep then nick it!  Wink

We just bought one of these for Pauls room and its FANTASTIC!We tried it out in our room first last night. The 4 of us just lay on the bed looking up at the ceiling mesmarised Shocked Grin We asked our famlies instead of giving Paul yet another wee toy car or inlay jigsaw to put in the cupboard just to give us  money for his birthday so we could light up his room, the idea is to get him out of our bed and into his own(fingers crossed). Thanks for the hint John; Paul loves it!
