Hi all,

Don't know if any of you are in or near Oldham but just in case though I would let you know that there are currently free play sessions available for anyone interested. They are on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 10am-12pm and 1pm-3pm.

The sessions are open to all children aged 3-8 years old and is based at The Avenues & Hollins Community Hall in, Corner of First Avenue and Ninth Avenue (OL8 3SH).

Children with special needs/disabilities are most welcome to attend.

There are sensory toys and equipment, art & craft activities, soft play shapes, computers, board games etc, outdoor activities (if good weather). There are also fresh fruit snacks and smoothie drinks/juice available for free.

Parents need to stay with their children, offering a chance to meet and social with other parents.

If you would like to attend with your child/children then you just need to come down to one of the sessions and fill out a basic form to enable your child/children to play.

Thanks,

Sarah

Hi,

There is a car park and there is normally only one or two cars parked there. Mondays are a good day to come as we have extra art & craft sessions going on. But any day is fine.

I've put in a bid to run a similar thing on a monthly basis on Saturday mornings so fingers crossed. That might be better for those that work.

I'm impressed! Is it funded by private sector/charity/or what?

I applied to a local funding pot for the play sessions.  It was called respect our communties and was administered by the First Choices homes but a lot of local agencies etc put money into the pot.

My ultimate goal is to provide a permanent play centre.

Play sessions for parents and tots.
A host of toys and play equipment - bikes, trikes, bouncy castle and craft activity for pre-school children.

I got the funding for the Saturday play sessions Grin

Thinking of running it the fist Saturday of each month for now so people don't have to remember dates.  Not sure what times would be good though!
