hi bekki

i'm new to the sight and only stumbled over it by chance i have a little girl Imogen and a boy Dylan, my husband is in the navy and was also away alot.  however he is on a 12month non-deployment period and can not be sent away,  but as our Daughter is visualy impared we have dcided to leave.

going back to your problems can't the army help, in the navy we can apply for funding for private boarding school or for disability schooling, if you don't ask you don't get.

Hi Bigshabba

Who actually told you that you could not have help? Have you asked for a re review? Sounds ridiculous to me as it sounds obvious that you need some help.  Angry

Hi Paula,

It was a social worker who said i was not entitled as Teddy does not fit the criteria. I also asked for young careers for my other children and was told i could have it because i have a heart condition but not because of Teddy's multiple conditions... I AM STILL WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO CONTACT ME ABOUT THE YOUNG CAREERS. I was told to get someone to apply for locality on my behalf, about respite, mean while 10 weeks later i am still waiting....

bigshabba over and out

Hi, paula!

No sadly i have not heard anything about the young careers or about the respite. In fact my lovely health visitor still has not presented the case to locality yet and has to get me to fill in even more forms etc. I honestly despare. It has been around 15 weeks plus now.... Every time i speak on the phone to her i get the impression she has better things to do and can not wait to get me off the phone. My son is nearly 4 now and still in nappies so i asked about his entitlement to free nappies, she told me that i have to prove i have tried to potty train him!!!! AND I WILL GET 4 FREE PAMPERS A DAY! I told her he can't wear pampers long term as they give him rashes and she all but told me thats all i can have so its tough. I would rather go without than subject him to needless rashes...
I have just started a webster stratton course thats seams doomed to failure from the start as they want to know our main goals, mine is to keep my son safe!!! from himself. This is something that they can not really help with. Most of their strategies seem to be aimed at the average child, not taking into account that my sons metal age and abilities are 2 years behind his actual age, there is no reasoning with him because he has no receptive langauge skills. etc etc. They mean well and at least i don't feel so isolated and that its just my child that is poorly behaved in public... Even if i only learn 1 thing its better than nothing. The home work is to spend 10 mins just 1-1 playing with him, not so easy when i spend all my time with him to stop him hurting himself or others and stopping him from absconding from our house, thats around 18-20 hrs of my day filled already. I even have to take him to toilet with me now. He trys to get out the windows and can climb over the stair gates.....  when/if he sleeps its in my room and its very unsettled so no real rest for me in bed either.

moan over, but you did ask!!! have a nice day/night from bigshabba
