hi eveyone this is our first post we have a little girl called Imogen who has special needs, she's 2 & a 1/2. We currently live in somerset and have spent the last couple of years building up a really good support network with her SN toddler group workers and physios etc, but we are moving to Scotland next summer so we can have more support from our family who live there.

Our family is based around stirling & edinburgh area so this is the area we plan on moving to. Can anyone give us any advice about which organisations to contact to organise things like getting Imogen into pre school and continuing her therapies? She has a physiotherapist, and OT and a visual impairment teacher. Also any advice on procedures for getting her a school place and choosing schools? At the moment her therapists have recommended she go to a mainstream school with extra support from her therapists etc a couple of times per week, but don't know if they'll have the same view on integration in central scotland.

Loads of questions there but any advice or information would be much appreciated! Thanks, Lauren & Nick

Hi Lauren

Welcome the site.

My name is Lizanne and I live in Glasgow, so don't know that i'll be much help for Stirling and Edinburgh Councils.

Found this on Stirling Council Website.

http://www.stirling.gov.uk/index/life/supportforfamilies/disability.htm

My son is Downs and from speaking to people we seem to spoiled in the west for therapists, family support and groups.  So I wouldn't go to far east

Hope it helps.

Lizanne

HI there,

we moved to central Scotland from Dorset 4 years ago...its been a great move for us as my daughter has a great school and therapists. We get equipment easily and I trust her doctors at Yorkhill.

Good luck with your move
