Should I be pressing for a coordinated support plan for Paul even if hes going to a special needs school? Every time I ask for one everyone seems to run especially OTs now I ve been told he won,t need one because everything he,ll need is contained within the special needs school? Iam confused, will he miss out on anything if he doesnt have one?

Hi Annie

I have no idea but wish you success in finding out.

I would enlist the help of your paed or someone who fights for you and get it is writing as to what should happen.

Thomas is at mainstream so I cannot help much.

Hi!

Not sure really as I suppose that it depends on the make up of the school. Michael goes to a Special Needs School and all the therapy is more or less self contained. I have never felt that a coordinated support plan has been necessary as they do have regular meetings on a general level to discuss students and the OT and Physios share the same office. Any info that we get from other agencies is always cc'd to all the therapists that Michael has so they are all aware of what is going on. Hope this helps!

It really depends which local authority you all live in.....

My daughter is in a school for kids with additional support needs and she does have a CSP, however I didnt feel the need for it. I know that all her needs are taken care of within school and a CSP in her case does not change that. Infact her CSP is not worth the paper its written on, as it does not go into any of the details that it should!

However if she had been in a mainstream school - well thats different! Its very easy within mainstream for therapists to fall away, so you need the CSP to tie everyone down to agreed programmes.

Good luck with it all....
