Hi Lisa

Welcome to the forum, hopefully we can help a bit. Basically, if your son requires additional care over and above what would normally be expected for a child of his age then you are certainly entitled to apply for benefits including Disability Living Allowance and Carer's Allowance. Unfortunately I can't predict whether or not your application would be accepted but it sounds like it is worth a shot.

I'm not sure what help you get at the moment - do you have a social worker or help from your GP for example? Has anyone professional acknowledged your son's autistic tendencies? It would be worth trying to get help initially via your GP as if you are lucky there are some very helpful people out there.

Best of luck and keep us informed,

John

Hi Lisa

Your GP as John said should help you.  Also search on Disability Living Allowance.

I am assuming you are in the UK - if not then doing a similar search within your own country would help you find out what you are entitled too.

Welcome here too.

Hi Lisa, I have a friend who works with autistic kids and the results she has had are amazing. She lives in the US and has 20 years experience working with kids with disabilities and in particular autism, but she's available on the phone, I'm sure she would be happy to hear from you and answer any questions you have...let me know if you'd like me to put you in touch.

Kindly,

D
