Hello,

My husband and I are experienced teachers of pupils with severe, complex and profound and multiple learning difficulties.

We are considering setting up a business that allows families with disabled children to holiday abroad TOGETHER; where parents can relax and disabled children and their siblings can be equally catered for.

I'd love to have some feedback on the type of holidays abroad that are available for familiies with disabled children.

Are you able to take your child with you on an overseas holiday and if so are their needs catered for?

Have you ever come across a kids club at a hotel for children with learning difficulties and if so to what extend did it cater for their specific needs?

Would you like to take your disabled child with you if you knew that there was a kids club which provided suitable, inspiring experiences for them?

If this were all possible, how much would you expect to pay?

Hi!

We have two children with complex additional needs, including ADHD, ASD, mobility, communication and medical needs. As a result, we are always at our happiest when we are miles away from anyone, especially other children (an approach which does suit our two too as Michael in particular struggles with new social situations and gets stressed). This year we went to an incredibly quiet fishing village in Tobago where we were nearly the only tourists -was bliss for all. The year before we went to France to a gite which was in an acre and half so no one could hear all our chaos and we were not conscious of upsetting anyone elses niceties! Not much help for your venture which I wish you all the best for, but from our point of view an organized, kid club type holiday would fill me with dread - probably reflective of how inadequate many settings are at present.
