Hello, I am new to this sort of things I must say. I know it is going to sound a bit weird but i need your help. I am a student at south Essex College in Southend on Sea. I am doing a degree in Special Education. At the moment, I am thinking of doing a paper about the support families of children with disabilities received from their Local Authorities. It is important to me and I thought a forum was the best way to collect real stories of families who struggled with social services or else. I will really appreciate yhe help of whoever feels they have been let down by the social care for their children. Thank you all.  Smiley Wink

Hello and welcome.

Yes this is a good place to start.

It might be worth adding an email address or asking people to PM you - that way sensitive issues are on a public forum.  That is not to say we should not discuss such issues but it is probably better.

Also, people usually find it easier if they have a brief set of questions  to answer and then allowed to elaborate.  They could be very simple and maybe 4-6 questions before people being allowed to write free txt.  Such as - Authority used, age of person using services, Special Needs Condition etc etc

I wish you luck with your project.

Hi!

Definitely some sensible advice from Speeds - you will definitely get a better response if you talk one to one with people and ask specific questions. I wish you luck with you study and would be interested to hear what you find out!

Kind regards
