Hi!

Need some help please! Elise (aged 6) has a full on fly phobia which she has now had for three years. Was hoping that she might have forgotten about it over the winter, but it has come back with a vengeance this week. It is a nightmare and I don't think the psychologist really realizes the impact that it has on everyone. Made up stories, bought a plastic fly toy, looked at tv programmes about insects but all to no avail. Getting desperate!!!!Was wondering about hypnotherapy but wasn't sure if it would work as she is so young. Any suggestions gratefully received!

Thanks  Huh Huh

Don't know but see if you can find one by recommendation and talk to them.  It sounds like nothing ventured nothing gained in this case.

Hope you get it sorted soon.

Just a quick update! Still waiting to be referred to the psychologist - what a surprise!! Spoke to a friend who is a hypmotherapist and she has said that this type of therapy will not work on Elise because she has little imagination. Apparently you have to visualise and concentrate - none of which Elise is able to do. As an interesting aside, she went on a school trip to a bee farm the other day!! School were fab and had a contingency plan and a car and driver on stand by but they were not needed - she was nervous but managed really well! Ironic though that she stood up and got stung by some stinging nettles!!!!!

I'm not so sure hypnotherapy is the way to go.

I took my oldest son, and after many, many sessions I just did not see any results.Perhaps this could be a long term solution, but what about right now?

Perhaps you should try play therapy....I have heard that this a fantastic alternative.
