Last hot and sunny Sunday we ventured a family outing to the beach with my disabled three-year-old and hi associated paraphenalia. Distraught that all the disabled bays were taken and without sufficient change for the extortionate meters, things were getting tense. Then I discovered that the (not usually!) generous Borough of Poole allows up to three hours free for Blue Badge holders in their standard metered bays. It's in small print, but it's there. A saving of £6. Thank you. Smiley

Generally, you will find that a blue badge allows you 3 hours free parking at a parking meter (and on double yellow lines if you have to and are not causing an obstruction), but in pay and display car parks you only get free parking if your vehicle is tax exempt.  However, you need to check the signs at the specific place in question as this is a guide not a rule.  Great to get something for free though!

I always check on the sign when i use my son's blue badge in a car park because alot of them have different rules.  I know that in Cornwall you have to be tax exempt to not have to pay but in Cumbria all blue badge holders can park free in council car parks.  I always check since I got a parking ticket in a Blackpool car park just after my son got his blue badge  Sad
