Hurrah! I am now officially not a bad parent thanks to some new research published today. That's a relief then! Can't believe the vitriol and ignorance which has been shown today on the various forums regarding ADHD though. When did ADHD become a chav disease? So many 'educated' people saying that ADHD is all a lie and that there is a great swathe of common, ignorant 'uneducated' people with unruly children, which just serves them right as they are probably on benefits too! On radio 5 today, someone rang in and said that both her and her husband have degrees and their child STILL has ADHD. No!!!! She did actually go on to make a really good point, but there is a hell of a lot of snobbery surrounding ADHD, which believe me DOES exist. ADHD is not just about being 'naughty' - even when our daughter is being on perfect behaviour, her ADHD is sooooo evident and she cannot sit still for toffee. Once again, because a disability is a hidden one, people dismiss it and belittle the sometimes devastating effects that this condition can have on families and most importantly on our children who not only have to deal with their disability but also with others ignorance.
